New 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 3 Compact EV Debuts
Hyundai has officially revealed the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 3, a new compact electric hatchback that expands its fast-growing Ioniq EV family. Positioned below the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, the new model is aimed at city buyers looking for a stylish, efficient, and affordable electric car.
The Ioniq 3 brings a fresh design approach called the “Aero Hatch” style. It features smooth surfaces, a clean profile, and improved aerodynamics. This not only gives the car a modern, futuristic look but also helps improve driving range and efficiency.
Under the body, the Ioniq 3 is based on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform with a 400-volt electrical system. It comes with two battery options. The smaller 42.2 kWh battery offers an estimated range of around 344 km, while the larger 61 kWh battery increases the range to nearly 496 km (WLTP). Fast charging from 10% to 80% takes about 29 minutes, making it convenient for everyday use and longer trips.
Inside, Hyundai has focused on space, comfort, and simplicity. The flat-floor design creates more legroom, while the cabin gets a clean, modern layout. A large touchscreen powered by the Pleos Connect system (based on Android Automotive) is the highlight of the dashboard. The system supports smart navigation, apps, and voice control.
The Ioniq 3 also comes with advanced safety and driver assistance features under Hyundai SmartSense. These include lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and multiple collision-avoidance systems for safer driving in cities and on highways.
Hyundai has also added over-the-air updates, allowing the vehicle to receive new features and improvements over time without visiting a service center.
While official pricing has not been announced, the Ioniq 3 is expected to be positioned in the affordable premium EV segment in Europe. For now, Hyundai has not confirmed plans for India or other markets.
With its strong mix of range, design, and technology, the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 3 is shaping up to be an important addition to Hyundai’s global electric lineup.
