Volvo has taken the wraps off the EX60 electric SUV, describing it as the company’s most technologically advanced EV so far and a key step toward its fully electric future. The model made its global debut on January 21, 2026, through a livestreamed presentation from Stockholm, where Volvo positioned the EX60 as its new contender in the premium mid-size electric SUV category. Emphasizing safety, extended range, and a refined digital experience, the EX60 is expected to raise the bar for Volvo’s electric lineup.

The EX60 is underpinned by a completely new electric platform engineered to deliver improved efficiency, longer driving range, and quicker software enhancements. Although detailed specifications have not yet been revealed, Volvo confirmed that this architecture will serve as the foundation for upcoming electric models while enabling more sophisticated safety technologies and advanced digital capabilities. Manufacturing is set to begin in the first half of 2026 at Volvo’s Torslanda facility in Sweden, with initial customer deliveries planned for late 2026.

True to Volvo’s core philosophy, safety plays a central role in the EX60’s development. The electric SUV debuts several next-generation safety innovations, including a new multi-adaptive seatbelt that adjusts its performance based on real-time data, occupant characteristics, and crash scenarios to provide enhanced protection. Alongside this, the EX60 incorporates Volvo’s latest suite of active and passive safety systems, further strengthening the brand’s leadership in vehicle safety.

The interior of the EX60 introduces an all-new infotainment system and user interface designed specifically for electric mobility. Volvo has prioritized a cleaner, more intuitive, and software-driven cabin experience, with improved connectivity and seamless control over vehicle functions. The system is designed to evolve through over-the-air updates, allowing the EX60 to gain new features and improvements over time.

With the EX60, Volvo is clearly aiming at customers seeking a premium electric SUV that blends Scandinavian design with advanced technology and top-tier safety. As global competition in the mid-size electric SUV segment intensifies, the EX60 stands out as a significant leap forward for Volvo and a clear indication of the brand’s vision for the future of electric vehicles.
