The wait for one of India’s most anticipated SUVs is nearly over — select Tata dealerships have started accepting bookings for the all-new Tata Sierra, ahead of its official launch on November 25, 2025.
Reviving one of Tata’s most iconic nameplates, the new Sierra will mark the brand’s biggest push yet in the midsize SUV space, taking on established rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Maruti Victoris, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.
In a celebratory gesture, Tata Motors has also gifted the first batch of the Sierra SUVs to members of India’s Women’s Cricket World Cup-winning team, underscoring the brand’s pride in Indian excellence and innovation.
Tata Sierra Engine Options: Petrol and Diesel Powertrains
At launch, the Tata Sierra will be offered exclusively with internal combustion engine (ICE) powertrains, with EV and hybrid versions expected to follow later.
Engine Lineup (Expected):
- 1.5L Naturally Aspirated Petrol – A brand-new four-cylinder engine designed for efficiency and smoothness.
- 1.5L TGDi Turbo-Petrol – Tata’s latest direct-injection turbo unit, expected to deliver around 170 PS and 280 Nm of torque.
- 1.5L Turbo-Diesel – Borrowed from the Nexon but tuned for higher output to suit the Sierra’s size and weight.
Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT). The powertrains are expected to offer a strong balance between performance, refinement, and fuel efficiency, catering to both urban and highway driving.
