Tata Cars Variant Reshuffle – Punch, Nexon, and Tiago NRG Models Discontinued

Tata Motors has recently made strategic changes to its lineup by discontinuing select variants across popular models like the Punch, Nexon, and Tiago NRG. This move follows strong festive-season sales and aims to streamline production, focus on high-demand variants, and improve delivery timelines. The decision aligns with Tata’s larger goal of optimizing efficiency as the brand prepares for upcoming launches, including the all-new Tata Sierra.

Tata Punch – Adventure Variants Discontinued

The Tata Punch, currently the second-best-selling Tata car (ICE + EV combined), is available in four main trims – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative. As part of the variant restructuring, Tata Motors has discontinued the Adventure and Adventure S trims.

The Punch Adventure variant featured a 3.5-inch infotainment system, four speakers, steering-mounted controls, power windows, anti-glare IRVM, rear AC vents, USB charging port, and electrically adjustable ORVMs with follow-me-home headlamps.

The Adventure S version added premium features like a shark-fin antenna, single-pane sunroof, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and height-adjustable driver seat. Both trims were available across all powertrain choices — 1.2L petrol MT, AMT, and CNG.

Tata Nexon – Red Colour Discontinued

The Tata Nexon, which contributes over 30% of Tata’s total sales, remains the brand’s top-selling model and one of India’s best-selling compact SUVs. Recently updated with ADAS technology to enhance safety, the Nexon has now undergone a minor update — the Red colour option has been discontinued due to low demand.

The Nexon continues to be available in trims – Smart, Pure, Creative, and Fearless – with colour options such as Pristine White, Daytona Grey, Grassland Beige, Pure Grey, Ocean Blue, and Royal Blue. Tata also retains the Dark and Red Dark editions, while dual-tone finishes are offered on the Creative and Fearless trims.

Tata Tiago NRG – Production Halted

The Tiago NRG, known for its rugged and sporty styling, has been discontinued as part of Tata’s variant overhaul. The cross-hatch version of the Tiago stood out with its bull-bar-style bumper, rugged skid plates, blacked-out roof with roof rails, and muscular tailgate design. Inside, it featured charcoal black interiors, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, HD rear camera, and smart digital steering with an illuminated Tata logo.

Despite its SUV-inspired styling, the Tiago NRG shared its powertrain with the standard Tiago – a 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine producing 86 PS and 113 Nm, with both 5-speed manual and AMT options. The CNG variant delivered 75.5 PS and 96.5 Nm.

Additionally, Tata has discontinued the Arizona Blue colour for the standard Tiago, while other shades like Supernova Copper, Ocean Blue, Pristine White, Tornado Blue, and Daytona Grey continue to be available.

Why the Change?

Tata Motors’ decision to discontinue select variants and colours is part of a strategic realignment aimed at optimizing resources and catering to the most popular configurations. By reducing complexity in production, Tata can ensure faster deliveries, improved inventory management, and better focus on upcoming launches like the Tata Sierra and the Curvv.
