Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Crosses 2 Million Unit Production Milestone

November 24, 2025

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd (SAVWIPL), the Indian arm of the Volkswagen Group, has achieved a major milestone by surpassing 2 million locally manufactured vehicles. This accomplishment comes as the company marks 25 years of operations in India. The first locally assembled model, the Skoda Octavia, rolled off the production line in 2001.

Piyush Arora, CEO and Managing Director of SAVWIPL, said the achievement reflects the company’s long-term commitment to India’s manufacturing capabilities, technology investments and customer trust across its six brands.

SAVWIPL produces cars across two facilities located in Chakan and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Over 5 lakh units out of the 2 million vehicles built are from the India 2.0 MQB-A0-IN platform, including the Skoda Kushaq, Kalyq and Slavia, as well as the Volkswagen Taigun and Tiguan. Remarkably, the last 5 lakh units were produced within just 3.5 years.

The India 2.0 programme has significantly revitalised the performance of Skoda and Volkswagen in the country. Skoda is likely to set a new sales record in 2025, driven by strong demand for the Kylaq. On the export front, SAVWIPL has shipped over 7 lakh vehicles from India so far.
