6 New SUVs Launching in the Next 4 Weeks

Tata Sierra (ICE)

The highly anticipated all-new Tata Sierra will officially debut on November 25. The iconic nameplate makes its return with both petrol and diesel engine options, though the ICE version will arrive first.

Tata has already showcased the production-spec Sierra ICE, which stands out with a bold design, modern cabin, and competitive feature list. Built on the ATLAS (Adaptive Tech Forward Lifestyle Architecture) platform, the Sierra ICE promises to be a cleverly packaged mid-size SUV.

Engine Options

  • Diesel: A detuned version of the Harrier’s 2.0L Multijet engine
  • Petrol:
    • New 1.5L turbocharged direct-injection petrol
    • New 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol derived from the turbo-petrol architecture

These powertrains should help Tata price the Sierra aggressively—critical as it goes up against its biggest rival, the Hyundai Creta.

Tata Sierra EV

Following the ICE model, the Sierra EV will launch a few weeks later. It will be based on the Acti.EV+ platform and is expected to offer two battery pack choices:

  • 55 kWh (from Curvv EV)
  • 65 kWh (from Harrier EV)

Tata is expected to deliver a range of over 500 km on the larger pack. Visually, the EV model will differentiate itself from the ICE version, offering a more futuristic design.

Mahindra XEV 9S

Mahindra will unveil the XEV 9S on November 26 at the “Scream Electric” event in Bengaluru. This model will be the brand’s first three-row electric SUV, based on the advanced INGLO platform, also used by the outgoing BE6 and XEV 9e.

Expected Battery Packs

Likely to borrow from the BE6 and XEV 9e:

  • 59 kWh BYD-sourced
  • 79 kWh BYD-sourced (expected real-world range: 500+ km)

Features Expected

Teasers confirm that the XEV 9S will carry forward key features from the XEV 9e, including:

  • Triple 12.3-inch screen setup
  • Wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless charging
  • Ventilated seats
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Powered front seats with memory
  • 1400W Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos
  • Level 2 ADAS
  • Remote parking

Maruti Suzuki eVitara

Maruti will enter the EV SUV segment with the eVitara, launching on December 2. First showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, the eVitara promises stylish looks, a feature-rich cabin, and competitive range figures. It rides on the Heartect-e platform, jointly developed by Toyota and Suzuki.

Battery & Power Options

  • 49 kWh: 144 hp
  • 61 kWh (single motor): 174 hp
  • 61 kWh (dual motor AWD): 184 hp

Both battery packs are supplied by BYD.

Tata Harrier (Petrol) And Tata Safari (Petrol)

Tata’s popular SUVs—the Harrier and Safari—currently diesel-only, will finally receive petrol powertrains. Set to launch on December 9, both SUVs will get the new:

  • 1.5L direct-injection turbo-petrol engine
  • Expected output: 170 hp / 280 Nm
  • Manual & automatic transmission options

First showcased at Auto Expo 2023, this engine will help Tata price the Harrier and Safari more competitively and appeal to buyers seeking smoother petrol power.

These six launches—ranging from mass-market EVs to next-gen ICE SUVs—are set to heat up the Indian SUV market even further. Whether you’re looking for performance, range, tech, or value, the next month is going to be packed with action.
