New-gen Kia Seltos India Debut on 10 December – Full Details Explained

December 1, 2025

The next-generation Kia Seltos is gearing up for its official India debut on 10 December, marking the most significant overhaul the SUV has seen since its launch. This isn’t just a cosmetic refresh; the new-gen model is set to evolve into a far more premium, tech-loaded and future-ready SUV, with major upgrades inside and out and the strong likelihood of a new hybrid powertrain.

Spy images have already offered a clear glimpse of the design direction Kia is taking. The new Seltos adopts a sharper, boxier stance with a noticeably more upright profile than the current version. A larger, squared-off grille now dominates the front fascia, aided by vertically aligned LED DRLs and redesigned bumpers that emphasise width and road presence. Fresh alloy wheel designs and a more rugged-looking rear end with redesigned LED tail-lamps and a sculpted tailgate complete the exterior transformation. Overall, the SUV looks more muscular, modern, and aligned with Kia’s global design philosophy.

The cabin is expected to undergo an equally comprehensive upgrade. Kia is likely to introduce a new dashboard layout with cleaner lines, richer materials, and improved fit and finish. A larger infotainment display, revised instrument cluster graphics, and updated switchgear could elevate the cabin experience. Seating comfort is expected to improve with redesigned seats offering better support and ergonomics. The SUV may also take a big step forward in connected-car tech, expanded ADAS safety features, and new dual-tone interior themes, enhancing both convenience and sophistication.

Under the hood, the next-gen Seltos is anticipated to retain its familiar trio of engines: the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and the 1.5-litre diesel. Gearbox options are expected to continue with manual, iMT, CVT, torque converter automatic, and DCT choices depending on the engine. Where things get interesting is the strong-hybrid powertrain that has been repeatedly spotted in early leaks and test mules. If introduced, it could significantly boost the Seltos’ efficiency and put it in direct contention with hybrid rivals from Toyota and Maruti.

Once launched, the new-gen Seltos will take on an extremely competitive line-up that includes the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, MG Astor and the upcoming Tata Curvv. With its new design language, refreshed interior, expanded powertrain range, and a likely hybrid option, the updated Seltos aims to reinforce Kia’s strong position in the mid-size SUV segment and appeal to an even broader audience.
