Kia is preparing to unveil the next-generation Seltos in India on 10 December, marking the most substantial update the SUV has received since its original launch. This upcoming model is not a mild facelift but a complete generational change that introduces a more premium design, a smarter and more refined cabin and the possibility of an all-new hybrid powertrain. With these upgrades, the new Seltos aims to evolve into a significantly more advanced and future-ready SUV.

Recent test sightings have revealed how dramatically the exterior design has been reworked. The new generation model adopts a squarer and more upright silhouette, giving it a noticeably stronger stance on the road. A much larger and more angular front grille forms the centrepiece of the redesign, flanked by vertically arranged LED daytime running lamps. The front and rear bumpers appear wider and more sculpted, enhancing the SUV’s visual width and presence. Redesigned alloy wheels add to the refreshed look, while the rear receives new LED tail-lamps and a more defined tailgate that together give the SUV a rugged yet modern appeal. Overall, the new Seltos aligns closely with Kia’s latest global design language, making it sharper and bolder than ever before.

The cabin will also undergo a major transformation. Kia is expected to introduce a completely new dashboard layout with cleaner surfaces, improved ergonomics and more premium materials throughout. A larger infotainment screen, updated digital cluster graphics and a redesigned centre console will elevate the interior ambience significantly. Seating comfort is also likely to improve with recontoured seats offering better cushioning and support. The new Seltos is poised to deliver upgrades in connected technology, expanded driver assistance features and richer dual-tone interior themes. Taken together, these changes will give the cabin a far more sophisticated and contemporary feel.

Mechanically, Kia is set to retain the existing 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5 litre turbo petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engines. The familiar gearbox options including manual, iMT, CVT, torque converter automatic and DCT are expected to continue depending on the engine type. What makes this generation particularly interesting is the strong hybrid powertrain that has been spotted on multiple test vehicles. If Kia introduces the hybrid option as expected, the Seltos will gain a significant advantage in efficiency, putting it directly against established hybrid SUVs from Toyota and Maruti.

With its India debut just days away, the new-gen Seltos is preparing to compete in one of India’s most crowded and competitive segments. Its rivals include the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, MG Astor and the upcoming Tata Curvv.
