Mini has officially opened bookings for the Cooper Convertible in India, with reservation amounts undisclosed. Customers can book the model through Mini’s website or authorised dealerships. Based on the Cooper S hatchback, the Convertible features an electrically operated soft-top roof that opens or closes in just 18 seconds, even at speeds of up to 30kph.
Exterior Design: Classic Mini Look With Open-Top Flair
The Cooper Convertible retains the traditional Mini silhouette while adding open-top capability. Key exterior highlights include:
- Circular LED headlamps with circular DRLs
- Octagonal grille with blanked-off centre trim
- Black horizontal grille elements and ‘S’ badging
- 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels
- Black lower body cladding and wheel arch protection
- Oblong LED tail-lamps with Union Jack detailing (unique to the Convertible)
- Dual-tone rear bumper and centrally placed Mini emblem
Despite the added mechanism, the Convertible preserves the compact, sporty stance Mini is known for.

Interior: Minimalistic, Premium, and Tech-Focused
The interior layout mirrors the hardtop version, featuring:
- Dual-tone, minimalistic cabin with pill-shaped air vents
- Dashboard finished in sustainable, customisable materials
- 9.4-inch Android-based OLED touchscreen serving as both infotainment and instrument cluster
- Head-up Display (HUD)
Expected features include powered front seats, Harman Kardon audio, automatic climate control, wireless charging, a rearview camera, ambient lighting, and cruise control.
Powertrain: Same Heart as the Cooper S
The Mini Cooper Convertible uses the same 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as its hardtop sibling:
- 204hp and 300Nm
- Paired to a 7-speed DCT automatic
- 0–100kph in 6.9 seconds (slightly slower due to added structural bracing)
This setup continues to balance performance and refinement, offering a spirited drive with the thrill of open-top motoring.

Expected Pricing and Rivals
While the standard Cooper S starts at ₹43.7 lakh (ex-showroom), the Cooper Convertible is expected to be priced from around ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom). It has no direct rival at this price point; however, the nearest alternative with an electric folding roof is the MG Cyberster EV, priced at ₹75 lakh.
