Maruti Suzuki Achieves Three Crore Domestic Sales Milestone

Maruti Suzuki has achieved a monumental feat by crossing three crore cumulative domestic sales — a milestone reached in just 42 years of operations in India. This makes Maruti Suzuki the first carmaker in the country to achieve such a remarkable number, further solidifying its leadership in the Indian automobile market.

The company’s sales journey showcases its consistent growth and widespread popularity. Maruti Suzuki reached its first crore sales in 28 years and two months, followed by the second crore in seven years and five months. The third crore milestone, however, came at a record pace — in just six years and four months, reflecting the brand’s expanding customer base and trust.

Among the three crore units sold, the Maruti Suzuki Alto stands as the brand’s best-selling model with over 47 lakh units, followed by the Wagon R (34 lakh units) and the Swift (32 lakh units). Other popular models like the Brezza and Fronx also rank among the top 10 best-sellers in the company’s extensive lineup of 19 models currently on sale in India.

Commenting on the achievement, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “When I look at the length and breadth of India and think that 3 crore customers have placed their trust in Maruti Suzuki to realise their dream of mobility, it fills me with humility and gratitude. Yet, with car penetration at approximately 33 vehicles per 1,000 people, our journey is far from over. We will continue to strive towards expanding mobility, supporting economic growth, and contributing positively to the environment.”

This historic milestone highlights Maruti Suzuki’s unwavering commitment to affordable mobility, localisation, and customer satisfaction. With its expanding product portfolio and focus on sustainable growth, the brand continues to play a pivotal role in shaping India’s automotive future.
