Maruti Suzuki is finally ready to introduce its first fully electric SUV, the eVitara, in India on 2nd December 2025. Already on sale in Japan and the UK, the eVitara is a global model that will be exported from India to over 100 international markets. Local manufacturing takes place at Maruti’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, which has already begun production and overseas shipments.
Here’s a detailed look at what the India-spec eVitara is expected to offer.
Powertrain, Battery, and Performance
The India-bound eVitara is expected to follow the same powertrain lineup as international models:
Battery & Motor Options
- 49 kWh (FWD) — 144 hp
- 61 kWh (FWD) — 174 hp
- 61 kWh (AWD) — 184 hp (dual-motor AllGrip-e)
However, India will only get FWD versions at launch. The AWD AllGrip-e variant is planned for a later introduction depending on demand and localisation readiness.
Claimed Driving Range (WLTP)
- 61 kWh FWD — 428 km
- 49 kWh FWD — 344 km
- 61 kWh AWD — 394 km
These figures place the eVitara competitively among upcoming mid-size electric SUVs.

Performance
- 61 kWh FWD: 0–100 km/h in 8.7 seconds
- 61 kWh AWD: 0–100 km/h in 7.4 seconds
The eVitara prioritises smooth, refined and efficient performance rather than outright acceleration, making it ideal for urban use and highway cruising.
Features and Equipment (Expected India Spec)
Maruti plans to bring a fairly premium feature list to the Indian version:
Exterior & Interior Highlights
- 19-inch alloy wheels
- Glass roof
- Dual-screen layout (10.25-inch instrument cluster + 10.1-inch infotainment)
- Infinity by Harman premium sound system
- 360-degree camera
- Wireless charging
- 10-way power-adjustable driver seat
- Keyless entry & start
- Semi-synthetic leather upholstery
- Suzuki Connect with advanced telematics
- Rear privacy glass
Safety
- 7 airbags
- ESP, hill hold & hill descent control
- TPMS
- Euro NCAP 4-star rating
- Advanced ADAS suite (international spec DSBS with radar + camera)
India is expected to retain the full ADAS package.
Space, Practicality & Comfort
Designed as a family-friendly urban electric SUV, the eVitara focuses on comfort and usability:
- Reclining and sliding rear seats
- Boot space: 238 litres to 306 litres, depending on seat adjustment
- India-spec model expected to get a reworked storage design for improved usable boot capacity
Rear space will be adequate for most passengers, though taller occupants may find headroom slightly limited due to the sloping roofline.
Expected Prices & Rivals
The Maruti eVitara is expected to be priced aggressively:
- Starting price: ~₹20 lakh
- 61 kWh FWD: ~₹25 lakh
This places the eVitara directly against:
- Hyundai Creta EV
- Mahindra BE 6
- Tata Curvv EV
- MG ZS EV
- Upcoming Tata Sierra EV
With aggressive pricing, wide service support and global market reach, the eVitara could become one of India’s highest-selling electric SUVs.
