Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Secures Five-Star BNCAP Rating Ahead of Launch

December 4, 2025

Just hours before Maruti Suzuki officially announces prices for its first-ever electric vehicle, the e Vitara has already made headlines by securing the highest possible five-star safety rating in the latest Bharat NCAP crash tests. This achievement strengthens Maruti’s entry into the EV market and positions the e Vitara as one of the safest electric SUVs currently available in India.

The test results reveal impressive scores across both adult and child occupant protection categories. The e Vitara earned 31.49 out of 32 points for Adult Occupant Protection, showcasing exceptional structural integrity and effective restraint systems. In Child Occupant Protection, the model scored 43 out of 49 points, again demonstrating strong rear-seat safety performance and secure ISOFIX mounting support. These ratings apply uniformly across all variants of the e Vitara—Delta, Zeta and Alpha—indicating that safety has been prioritised across the lineup.

Maruti has equipped the e Vitara with a comprehensive range of safety features as standard. This includes seven airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, and brake assist. The SUV also offers a pedestrian protection system, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic parking brake, and sensors at both front and rear for enhanced manoeuvrability. Isofix child-seat anchor points and an active seatbelt reminder system further reinforce its family-friendly focus.

Visually, the e Vitara retains the bold and modern design Maruti previewed earlier, and under the skin, it is powered by two battery configurations. The base Delta variant uses a 48.8kWh pack, while the Zeta and Alpha variants come with the larger 61.1kWh unit. Maruti claims that these configurations offer a blend of efficiency, performance and long-range capability suited to daily commutes as well as highway drives.

With the official launch now imminent, the strong BNCAP performance adds significant credibility to the e Vitara, especially as safety becomes a stronger deciding factor for EV buyers in India. The full review of the model is already live for those who wish to explore every detail before the price announcement.
