Mahindra has confirmed that the upcoming XEV 9S, its first three-row electric SUV, will feature a premium Harman Kardon audio system. The latest teaser reveals that the system will support multiple sound modes and will be integrated with the SUV’s multi-colour ambient lighting, allowing sound and lighting to work together for a more immersive cabin experience.
This upgrade aligns with Mahindra’s recent EVs—the XEV 9e and BE 6—which already use Harman Kardon setups as part of their factory equipment, signaling a premium in-cabin focus for the brand’s flagship electric models.
Feature and Powertrain Expectations
The XEV 9S will share most of its features and mechanical setup with the XEV 9e and BE 6. Highlights are expected to include:
- Three-row seating layout
- Large triple-screen dashboard
- Connected LED lighting
- Ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, ADAS
- Multi-colour ambient lighting synced with sound modes
The 9S also represents the next evolution of Mahindra’s electric SUV journey, progressing from XUV.e8 → XEV 7e → XEV 9S, and is positioned as the electric counterpart to the XUV700.
Powertrain options are expected to mirror the existing lineup, with battery packs likely in the 59kWh and 79kWh configurations.
Price and Rivals
The Mahindra XEV 9S is expected to be priced between Rs 21 lakh and Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with:
- Tata Harrier EV
- BYD eMax 7
- Kia Carens Clavis EV (higher variants)
- Hyundai Creta Electric
The official India launch is scheduled for 27 November.
