Mahindra XEV 9S – Top 8 Confirmed Features

  1. Triple-Screen Layout
Like its 5-seater sibling, the XEV 9S will feature a three-display setup — a central touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver’s instrument cluster, and a third screen for the front passenger’s entertainment and controls.
  2. Gloss Black Steering Wheel with Backlit Mahindra Logo
The teasers reveal a sleek gloss black multi-function steering wheel featuring an illuminated “Twin Peaks” logo, emphasizing Mahindra’s premium design direction.
  3. Harman Kardon Audio System
The cabin will be fitted with a Harman Kardon premium surround sound system, ensuring a rich, high-fidelity audio experience.
  4. Toggle-Style Power Window Switches
Inspired by the futuristic XEV 9e and BE.06, the 9S will feature toggle-style switches for the power windows, lending a tactile and aircraft-inspired feel to the cabin.
  5. Power Adjustable Driver’s Seat with Memory Function
Comfort and convenience will be top priorities, with a power-adjustable driver’s seat that remembers preferred seating positions.
  6. Sliding Second Row of Seats
Practicality is enhanced with a sliding second row, allowing flexibility between added legroom or increased luggage capacity.
  7. Panoramic Sunroof
A full-length panoramic sunroof will bring in ample natural light, adding to the sense of space and luxury.
  8. Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold
The SUV will feature an electronic parking brake combined with an auto-hold function for convenience in stop-and-go traffic conditions.

Interior and Comfort Features

Inside, the XEV 9S promises to deliver a tech-focused yet comfortable cabin environment. Along with the confirmed features, it’s expected to include:

  • Three-zone climate control
  • Ambient interior lighting
  • Ventilated and massaging front seats
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless phone charger
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Front and rear parking sensors

These inclusions position the XEV 9S as a luxury-oriented family EV, rivaling models like the Hyundai Ioniq 7, Kia EV9, and Volvo EX90 globally.

Mahindra XEV 9S – Powertrain, Battery, and Range

While Mahindra hasn’t released technical specifications yet, industry insiders suggest that the XEV 9S will share its powertrain and battery architecture with the smaller XEV 9e.

Two battery pack options are expected:

  • 59 kWh pack – single-motor setup, with a claimed range of up to 542 km (MIDC)
  • 79 kWh pack – extended-range version with up to 656 km (MIDC)

Both configurations are likely to offer rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants. Charging speeds are expected to mirror the XEV 9e, supporting DC fast charging up to 175 kW, allowing rapid top-ups for long-distance driving.

Design and Positioning

The teasers indicate that the XEV 9S carries forward the futuristic design language from Mahindra’s Born Electric range, blending aerodynamic curves with bold LED lighting elements. With a three-row layout, it will be positioned as a family-oriented premium electric SUV, offering both comfort and performance.

Built on Mahindra’s INGLO platform, the XEV 9S will leverage cutting-edge battery safety, modularity, and software-defined architecture, setting new benchmarks in its class.

Mahindra’s EV Roadmap

The XEV 9S will play a key role in Mahindra’s broader electric expansion strategy, which includes multiple new launches under the XEV and BE sub-brands. The company has confirmed investments exceeding ₹10,000 crore toward EV development, production facilities, and charging infrastructure by 2030.
