The upcoming 2026 Kia Sorento Hybrid has been spotted testing in India for the first time, signalling Kia’s entry into the premium three-row SUV space next year. The camouflaged test mule was photographed inside a parking facility, revealing key details such as large 19-inch alloy wheels, an upright stance, and a rotary-style gear selector inside the cabin. Positioned above the Seltos and Carens, the Sorento will serve as Kia’s flagship ICE-hybrid SUV for the Indian market.
Exterior Highlights
Despite the heavy camouflage, the Sorento’s boxy silhouette and strong proportions are clearly visible. The test model features 235/55 R19 tyres, confirming that the India-spec version will retain the global model’s upmarket wheel size. Signature design elements like vertical LED DRLs, connected tail lamps, and a prominent Tiger Nose grille are expected to be part of the final package.
The squared-off wheel arches, flat tailgate, and tall bonnet further underline its premium and rugged positioning. Sensor cutouts on the bumpers indicate that the Sorento may offer Level 2 ADAS features when introduced in India.
Cabin and Features
A leaked interior image shows a rotary dial gear selector, suggesting that the hybrid powertrain will be part of the India lineup. Based on the international model, the Sorento is likely to offer:
- Dual 12.3-inch curved displays
- Kia’s latest ccNC infotainment software with OTA updates
- Ventilated seats
- Multi-zone climate control
- Ambient lighting
- Panoramic sunroof
- Bose premium sound system
- Soft-touch materials and premium finishes
The SUV’s three-row layout will also feature multiple charging ports, improved space utilisation and comfort-focused amenities.
Powertrain Expectations
Globally, the Sorento is sold with multiple petrol, turbo-petrol, and hybrid/plug-in hybrid setups. For India, Kia is expected to prioritise the strong-hybrid 1.6-litre turbo-petrol configuration. A non-hybrid petrol option may also be considered, but a diesel variant appears unlikely. The focus will be on efficiency, performance, and positioning the Sorento as Kia’s first hybrid SUV in India.
Expected Launch and Rivals
Expected to be priced between Rs 35 lakh and Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Sorento will take on established premium SUVs including:
- Toyota Fortuner
- Skoda Kodiaq
- MG Gloster
Testing is already underway, and the India launch is expected towards the end of 2026, aligning with Kia’s expanding premium SUV strategy.
