Hyundai Venue Diesel Sales Reach 20% Share, New Diesel-Automatic to Boost Demand

The Hyundai Venue diesel continues to hold a strong position in the compact SUV segment, accounting for 20 percent of total sales. With the launch of the new-generation Venue, Hyundai has introduced a diesel-automatic powertrain for the first time in the model’s six-year history, expanding its appeal among SUV buyers.

New Hyundai Venue Diesel-Automatic Launched

Unlike the previous-generation Venue and its 2022 facelift, which were offered only with a manual gearbox for the 1.5-litre diesel engine, the new Venue adds a diesel-automatic option. This move is expected to attract more customers looking for convenience without compromising on fuel efficiency and torque delivery.

Hyundai Venue Sales Milestone

In September 2025, Hyundai announced that Venue’s domestic wholesales had crossed the 7 lakh-unit mark since launch. Of these, diesel variants contributed around 1.4 lakh units, while petrol and turbo-petrol models made up 80 percent of total sales, equating to roughly 5.6 lakh units.

How Venue Compares with Rivals

In comparison, the Mahindra XUV 3XO – which also offers diesel-manual and diesel-automatic powertrains – sees a 70:30 petrol-to-diesel split. With the introduction of the diesel-automatic in the new HX5 (Rs 11.58 lakh) and HX10 (Rs 15.51 lakh) variants, Hyundai expects Venue diesel sales to grow by 10 percent.
