Hyundai Motor India maintained its position as the fourth-largest car manufacturer in India in October 2025, though overall sales saw a marginal year-on-year (YoY) decline. The brand held an 11.5% market share, slightly down from 12.1% a year earlier, as monthly sales slipped 3% YoY to 53,792 units (down from 55,568 units in October 2024).
On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, however, Hyundai managed a 4% recovery, improving from 51,547 units in September 2025, reflecting strong festive season traction and the benefits of the GST 2.0 reforms that boosted compact car affordability.

Hyundai’s SUV range continued to dominate its portfolio, with the Creta and Venue leading the charge, followed by the Exter, Aura, and i10.
Model-Wise Sales Performance
1. Hyundai Creta – 18,381 units
The Creta remained Hyundai’s top-selling model and the second-best-selling SUV in India overall. Sales rose 5% YoY, up from 17,497 units in October 2024. However, MoM figures slipped 3% compared to September’s record 18,861 units — its best monthly total since launch.
The Creta’s consistent demand highlights its strong brand equity in the midsize SUV segment, ahead of its next-generation update in 2026.
2. Hyundai Venue – 11,738 units
The Venue took second spot in Hyundai’s lineup, with 8% YoY and 2% MoM growth. Its facelifted and N Line variants continue to drive popularity in the sub-4m SUV segment, competing with the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Brezza.
The upcoming 2026 Hyundai Venue, with advanced tech and ADAS features, is expected to strengthen its market position further.

3. Hyundai Exter – 6,294 units
The compact SUV Exter recorded a 12% YoY decline (down from 7,127 units in Oct 2024), but bounced back 12% MoM over 5,643 units in September 2025. The model remains a strong urban commuter offering in Hyundai’s lineup, appealing to first-time SUV buyers seeking premium features in a compact footprint.
4. Hyundai Aura – 5,815 units
The compact sedan Aura registered robust growth, posting a 21% YoY increase (from 4,805 units in Oct 2024) and an 8% MoM rise from 5,387 units in September. Its strong performance in the fleet and private segments has solidified its presence among entry-level sedans.
5. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios – 5,426 units
The Grand i10 saw a mild YoY decline, reflecting a shift in demand toward SUVs and CNG models. However, MoM performance improved due to festival promotions and dealer discounts.

6. Hyundai i20 – 4,023 units
The i20 premium hatchback posted a YoY drop but showed sequential growth over September. Upcoming facelifts and ADAS-equipped versions could help revive momentum in 2026.
7. Hyundai Alcazar – 1,259 units
The Alcazar, Hyundai’s 7-seater SUV, recorded lower YoY figures but regained ground on a MoM basis. Its diesel and turbo-petrol powertrains continue to attract family buyers seeking Creta-level comfort with added versatility.
8. Hyundai Verna – 824 units
The Verna mid-size sedan, currently in its latest generation, saw a dip in YoY numbers but an uptick MoM. The model’s premium positioning, ADAS suite, and 1.5-litre turbo engine continue to keep it relevant despite tough competition from the Honda City and Skoda Slavia.
A facelifted Verna is expected to debut in 2026 with mild hybrid technology.

EV and Premium Segment Performance
Hyundai Tucson – 26 units
The Tucson SUV experienced a sharp 82% YoY decline, with sales falling from 141 units in Oct 2024 to just 26 units. MoM sales also tumbled 69% from 85 units in September. This decline aligns with reports of the model being delisted from Hyundai India’s website, suggesting its eventual phase-out or a next-gen replacement.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 – 6 units
Hyundai’s flagship EV, the Ioniq 5, saw an 81% YoY drop, down from 32 units in Oct 2024. MoM sales were flat at 6 units. Despite accolades and awards, its premium pricing has limited volumes amid rising competition from newer electric SUVs.
Hyundai Kona Electric – 0 units
The Kona EV saw no sales in October 2025, likely due to an impending discontinuation as Hyundai prepares for its next-generation EV lineup under the E-GMP platform.
Growth Drivers and Challenges
Hyundai’s October 2025 performance demonstrates mixed trends:
- Strong demand for core SUVs (Creta, Venue, Exter) and sedans (Aura).
- Declining momentum in premium and EV categories.
- Market share dip due to intensified competition from Maruti, Tata, and Mahindra.
However, Hyundai remains bullish about the future. The company recently announced a ₹45,000 crore investment plan by 2030 to expand manufacturing capacity, develop new EVs, hybrids, and MPVs, and enhance local R&D capabilities.
Hyundai’s GST 2.0 advantage — particularly for compact cars and small SUVs — is expected to support retail performance in the coming quarters.
