Honda to Introduce 10 New Cars in India by 2030 — Seven Will Be SUVs

Honda has revealed an ambitious product roadmap for India, confirming the launch of 10 new vehicles by 2030, with seven of them being SUVs. This move highlights the brand’s renewed focus on India’s rapidly expanding SUV segment.

A key highlight will be the production version of the Honda 0 Alpha electric SUV, showcased recently at the Japan Mobility Show. This model will now take priority over the previously planned Elevate-based EV and will be manufactured in India for both domestic sales and exports.

EV Strategy & Battery Sourcing One of the core elements of the 0 Alpha EV will be its battery sourcing strategy. Honda will import battery packs from Indonesia and assemble them in India, aiming to keep costs competitive. While Honda has not confirmed whether the battery tech will be NMC or LFP, reliability is expected to take precedence over maximum range.

10-Model Product Plan

In addition to the 0 Alpha SUV, Honda will introduce the full-size Honda 0 EV SUV as a CBU import, serving as a flagship model to build brand aspirational value.

Honda will also refresh its existing lineup:

  • City
  • City e:HEV
  • Amaze
  • Elevate

The Elevate will play a major role in this plan, with an expected hybrid version and a new sub-compact SUV to re-enter the sub-4-metre category — an important market where Honda has been absent since the WR-V was discontinued.

New Segment Entries

Honda is also expected to explore two new model spaces:

  • BR-V: A three-row MPV to rival the Maruti Ertiga, XL6, Toyota Rumion, and Kia Carens, with significant fleet-market potential — especially in the CNG-friendly commercial space.
  • CR-V (new generation): Likely to be priced ₹40–45 lakh, it will compete with models like the Skoda Kodiaq, VW Tiguan/Tayron, and entry-luxury SUVs from German brands. The CR-V is expected to offer petrol and hybrid powertrains.

What It Means for the Market

Honda’s aggressive product offensive signals a strategic shift to regain market share in India. With a strong emphasis on SUVs, hybrids, and localized EV production, the brand is positioning itself to compete more effectively across mass-market and premium segments.

India’s SUV boom and growing demand for electrified vehicles make this one of Honda’s most crucial phases in recent years.
