Genesis Magma GT Concept Previews Future Mid-Engine Halo Car

November 24, 2025

Genesis has unveiled the Magma GT Concept, offering the first clear preview of its upcoming mid-engine halo performance car. The near-production concept showcases the brand’s ambition to build a high-performance super sports model aimed at entering GT racing by 2030.

A Glimpse Into Genesis’ Performance Future

According to Luc Donckerwolke, President and Chief Creative Officer of Genesis, the Magma GT Concept represents the peak of the brand’s performance vision and its commitment to motorsport-ready engineering.

The concept carries all the characteristics of a traditional rear-mid-engine supercar, including muscular proportions, a sloping rear deck, and aerodynamic sculpting. The reverse-hinged clamshell bonnet features the signature Genesis dual-blade headlamps, which double as functional canards to increase front-end downforce. A full-width air vent dominates the bumper, improving airflow and cooling.

Supercar Design Cues and Aero Details

The Magma GT Concept features large vents behind the front arches for brake cooling, flush-fitting door handles integrated into butterfly doors, and heavily sculpted rear fender intakes feeding the engine bay. A roof-mounted intake and a vented engine cover integrated into the rear deck further enhance cooling efficiency.

At the rear, the concept showcases a twin-bar LED lightbar arrangement, with illuminated Genesis lettering placed between the lamps. The design sits atop a large extraction vent that channels heat away from the powertrain.

Hybrid Power Likely for Production

Genesis has not confirmed powertrain specifications, but early indications suggest a hybrid configuration combining a petrol engine with electric motors, rather than a fully electric or purely combustion setup. This aligns with the brand’s performance direction while supporting motorsport applications.

Genesis also confirmed that a race-ready derivative of the Magma GT Concept will compete in GT racing series in the future. This follows the brand’s announcement of its upcoming Le Mans and LMP2 entry with the GMR-001 hypercar.
