Ferrari is getting ready for a historic shift as it prepares to launch its first-ever electric vehicle in 2026. Known for its powerful petrol engines and racing heritage, the Italian brand is now entering the electric era with a clear focus on performance, innovation, and exclusivity.
Ferrari has confirmed that its upcoming EV will produce more than 1,000 bhp. Power will come from a quad-motor all-wheel-drive system, allowing each wheel to be controlled independently. This setup is expected to deliver instant acceleration, sharp handling, and high levels of stability, staying true to Ferrari’s performance DNA.
To support the development of its electric car, Ferrari has built a new private test track called the “e-Vortex.” Located next to the famous Fiorano Circuit, this 1,887-metre track is designed specifically for testing electric vehicles. It allows Ferrari to fine-tune performance, battery systems, and software while keeping prototypes hidden from public view.
Production of Ferrari’s first EV will take place at a newly constructed “e-building” facility in Maranello. This advanced plant has been created to manufacture electric powertrains and future-ready technologies. It plays a key role in Ferrari’s long-term strategy, which includes petrol, hybrid, and electric models.
Ferrari’s CEO, Benedetto Vigna, has indicated that the electric car will be a completely new product rather than a modified version of an existing model. The EV is also expected to offer a driving range of over 500 kilometres, making it suitable for both performance driving and longer journeys.
Deliveries of Ferrari’s first electric vehicle are scheduled to begin in October 2026. With this launch, Ferrari aims to show that electric power can still deliver excitement, precision, and emotion — qualities that define the brand’s legacy.
