Hyundai has unveiled the bold new Crater Concept SUV at the 2025 LA Auto Show, showcasing the brand’s next step toward an adventure-focused electric future. Designed at Hyundai’s California studio, the Crater previews styling cues and technologies expected to influence upcoming XRT-branded SUVs.
The concept features Hyundai’s new ‘Art of Steel’ design language, characterised by sharp creases, muscular proportions, and rugged off-road detailing. It sits on 18-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch tyres, with chunky cladding, a roof rack with pixel-style auxiliary lamps, and a unique front skid plate with an integrated bottle opener. Pixel-inspired LED tail lamps further emphasize its futuristic theme.

While technical specifications remain undisclosed, early details point to a dual-motor AWD setup with locking differentials on both axles. Practicality meets innovation throughout the design: the conventional ORVMs are replaced with detachable camera pods that double as portable flashlights or action cameras.
Inside, the Crater embraces a minimalistic, adventure-driven layout. Highlights include a roll-cage-style structure, camping-inspired modular seats, and a wide heads-up display replacing the traditional touchscreen interface.

Though Hyundai has not confirmed production plans, the company has stated that future XRT SUVs will borrow heavily from the Crater’s styling and philosophy. The concept is currently on display at the LA Auto Show, with more details expected soon.
For India, there is no official announcement yet. However, considering the growing appetite for rugged, outdoorsy SUVs—electric or otherwise—the Crater’s design direction could influence future Hyundai models tailored for the Indian market.
