Mahindra has released yet another teaser for the upcoming XEV 9S, and this one confirms one of the most premium features buyers look for today — Boss Mode. This function allows the rear passenger to electronically adjust the front passenger seat at the touch of a button, freeing up significantly more legroom for a chauffeur-driven experience.
Boss Mode Comes to Mahindra’s Flagship Electric SUV
Boss Mode, once seen only in luxury sedans, is becoming increasingly common in premium mass-market SUVs. Models like the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and Tata Harrier EV already offer it. With the XEV 9S, Mahindra is aligning its flagship electric model with this growing trend.
The XEV 9S will serve as the three-row electric sibling to the XUV700, built on the INGLO platform, which also underpins the BE 6 and XEV 9e. This positions the 9S as Mahindra’s new electric flagship, focusing heavily on comfort, technology and rear-seat luxury.
Interior: Triple Screens, Panoramic Sunroof, Premium Touch
Mahindra’s teasers confirm that the XEV 9S will carry over the same dashboard layout as the XEV 9e, including:
– A triple-screen setup (driver display, infotainment and passenger display)
– A two-spoke steering wheel with illuminated Mahindra logo
– New white-themed interior upholstery
– Reclining second-row seats
– Panoramic sunroof
Buyers can expect additional premium features such as:
– Ventilated front seats
– Dual-zone climate control
– Leatherette upholstery
– Powered driver seat
– Wireless charging
– 360-degree camera
– Level 2 ADAS

These features strengthen the XEV 9S’s positioning as a modern, feature-rich electric alternative to the XUV700.
Exterior: EV-Specific Styling
The XEV 9S features a more upright, spacious design compared to the XEV 9e. Key exterior highlights teased so far:
– Connected LED DRL bar
– Closed-off EV grille
– Aero-optimised wheels
– Lower-mounted LED headlamps
– Redesigned tailgate with LED tail-lamps
– Raised roofline for improved headroom in the third row
Mahindra’s EV design language is clearly evolving toward more aerodynamic and futuristic styling.
Expected Powertrain Options
Mahindra hasn’t officially revealed specifications, but the XEV 9S is expected to share powertrain options with the XEV 9e and BE 6.
Expected outputs:
– 59kWh battery: 231hp, 380Nm
– 79kWh battery: 286hp, 380Nm
Expected range (claimed figures from sibling models):
– 59kWh: 542km to 557km
– 79kWh: 656km to 683km
Given the model’s three-row layout and potential AWD configuration, actual figures may vary.
