Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has issued a proactive and voluntary recall for select units of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV in India. A total of 11,529 units manufactured between December 9, 2024, and April 29, 2025, have been affected.
This recall has been initiated to inspect and replace a potentially faulty Combination Meter (instrument cluster), which may not function as intended in some vehicles.
Why the Recall Was Issued
Toyota says the issue is related to the instrument cluster, a critical component that displays information such as speed, fuel levels, warnings, and system alerts. A malfunctioning cluster can lead to misleading or missing information, potentially affecting safe vehicle operation.
Although Toyota has not reported any accidents or injuries related to the defect, the automaker has chosen to initiate a recall as a precautionary measure to maintain its focus on safety and reliability.
Earlier this week, Maruti Suzuki issued a similar recall affecting 39,506 units, also related to a faulty fuel gauge and cluster components — highlighting a possible shared supplier issue, since the Hyryder and Grand Vitara are co-developed models.
How Toyota Will Handle the Recall
Toyota has confirmed that:
- Dealership representatives will contact affected owners directly.
- The affected part will be inspected and replaced free of cost, if required.
- The entire process should take minimal time, depending on dealership workload and part availability.
Owners are not required to immediately stop driving their vehicles, but Toyota advises them to schedule an inspection at the earliest.

How Owners Can Check if Their SUV Is Affected
Toyota recommends that Urban Cruiser Hyryder owners:
- Contact their nearest Toyota dealership
- Use Toyota’s Customer Assistance Centre
- Call the toll-free number: 1800-309-0001
- Check recall status by providing the vehicle’s VIN
A dedicated support team will help customers verify whether their vehicle is part of this campaign.
Models Affected
Only the Urban Cruiser Hyryder units produced between:
9 December 2024 – 29 April 2025
are included in the recall.
Hybrid and mild-hybrid trims falling within these production dates may be impacted.
