Mahindra is gearing up for a major update to one of its most successful models, the XUV700. Launched in 2021, the SUV has already crossed the 3 lakh unit sales milestone, making it one of the brand’s strongest performers. Now, with growing competition in the premium midsize SUV segment, the carmaker is preparing the 2026 XUV700 facelift, expected to debut next year.
Recent spy shots have revealed several major changes, and automotive designer Pratyush Rout has created detailed digital renders based on these sightings, showcasing the updated XUV700 in eight new body colours.
Revamped Exterior: Fresh Styling & Sharper Details
While the current XUV700 already commands a strong road presence, Mahindra appears to be working on a more modern, assertive design for the facelift. Updates observed on test mules include:
- New twin-barrel projector LED headlamps
- Reworked DRLs with a more dynamic shape
- Revised front grille with a fresh pattern
- Updated alloy wheels
- Tweaked rear bumper and tail-lamp detailing
These design revisions are expected to keep the XUV700 competitive against newer rivals such as the Tata Harrier facelift, MG Hector, and upcoming Hyundai Tucson.
Improved Safety & New ADAS Features
The facelifted XUV700 is expected to receive an expanded suite of Level 2 ADAS features. The current model already offers:
- 7 airbags
- Electronic Stability Control
- Hill hold assist
- 360-degree surround camera
- Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
Mahindra may introduce additional collision-avoidance and driver-assist features to enhance overall safety.
Biggest Change: A Triple-Screen Dashboard Layout
One of the most significant upgrades is expected inside the cabin. The 2026 XUV700 will introduce a triple-screen setup, similar to the upcoming XEV 9e. This new layout will replace the current dual 10.25-inch displays.
The triple display unit is likely to include:
- A central infotainment touchscreen
- A fully digital driver instrument cluster
- A dedicated passenger infotainment screen
This layout enhances visual appeal and brings a more premium, futuristic feel to the cabin.

Interior Upgrades: Premium Touches & New Technology
Other interior changes seen on the test vehicle include:
- New four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Mahindra logo
- Premium leather-wrapped steering and gear lever on higher trims
- Updated steering-mounted controls
- Auto-dimming IRVM
- Rear BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) support
- Optional captain seats in the second row
A major highlight will be the new 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, replacing the current Sony 12-speaker setup. This upgrade promises a more immersive in-car entertainment experience.
Engine Options: No Changes Expected
Mahindra will continue offering the same proven powertrains:
2.0L Turbo Petrol
- 200 PS, 380 Nm
- 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic
2.2L mHawk Diesel
- Available in multiple states of tune
- Higher-spec version makes 185 PS
- 420 Nm (manual) / 450 Nm (automatic)
These engines are among the most powerful in the segment and are likely to be carried over unchanged.
2026 XUV700 Facelift: Launch Timeline
The refreshed XUV700 is expected to debut in early 2026. With enhanced technology, fresh design updates and premium cabin upgrades, the facelift aims to retain Mahindra’s strong position in the premium SUV space.
