Kia EV3 Review: Real-World 500km Range, Premium Cabin, and ADAS Tested

The midsize EV segment in India could get very exciting if Kia decides to bring the EV3 to our market. Models such as the Volvo EX30 and BYD Atto 3 have already showcased the potential of this space, and after driving the EV3 GT-Line in the UK, one thing is clear: Kia’s latest electric SUV fits right into this premium EV league.

Design

The EV3 is built on a dedicated EV architecture. While it isn’t particularly large, its styling clearly aligns with bigger Kia EVs like the EV6 and EV9. Sharp LED elements, squared-off bodywork, flush door handles, and massive 19-inch wheels together give the EV3 a strong upmarket presence.

Expect similar styling for India, though likely with smaller alloy wheels and taller tyre sidewalls to handle rougher road conditions.

Interior and ADAS Tech

Inside, the EV3 is a pleasant surprise. Material quality is impressive, every major touch-point feels solid, and the two-tone upholstery and minimalist dashboard elevate the cabin experience. There are no inconsistent gaps, no creaks, and no flex—qualities that make the EV3 feel like a smaller EV9.

Details such as tasteful ambient lighting, clever storage spaces (including a sliding centre console and a usable frunk), and a crisp Harman Kardon audio system enhance the premium feel. Overall, the EV3’s cabin feels more special than both the Atto 3, with its quirky layout, and the Volvo EX30, which leans heavily on minimalism.

Screens & Interface

The triple-display setup includes:

  • 12.3-inch infotainment screen
  • 12.3-inch driver display
  • 5.3-inch climate control panel

All displays run smoothly without lag. However, the climate panel sits right behind the steering wheel rim and is completely obstructed from the driver’s direct view.

ADAS Performance

ADAS is easily one of the EV3’s strongest areas.

  • Lane Keep Assist is exceptionally well-calibrated—no ping-ponging between lanes, excellent tracking through curves, and overall very natural behavior.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control is equally polished, maintaining smooth, predictable speed adjustments without abrupt braking or acceleration.

Performance and Ride Comfort

The EV3 uses a 201bhp front-mounted motor producing 283Nm of torque. It’s not blisteringly quick, but it feels adequately powerful and responsive. Despite its 1.9-tonne weight, the EV3 feels agile and composed.

Ride quality is well-judged—firm enough to stay stable at high speeds, yet compliant enough for everyday use. Kia may soften the suspension slightly for India, but even in its current British tune, the EV3 feels refined and reassuring.

Real-World Range Tested

We conducted a thorough range test in the UK on cold winter motorways at roughly 70mph (112kph)—conditions that typically reduce EV efficiency.

Even so, the EV3 delivered an impressive 310 miles (≈500km) on a full charge from its 81.4kWh battery. Considering the weather and speeds involved, this real-world performance is noteworthy.

Positioning in India

This is where things get complicated. While the EV3 is similar in size to the upcoming Creta EV, it’s a far more premium product in:

  • Build quality
  • ADAS sophistication
  • Real-world driving range
  • Cabin experience

Buyers will inevitably compare it to the more mass-market Creta EV, which could pose a pricing challenge. If launched, the EV3’s pricing will likely align with the BYD Atto 3 or Volvo EX30 rather than the Creta EV—and that’s exactly the bracket it belongs in.

Verdict

The Kia EV3 is a highly impressive electric SUV. Its build quality, feature execution, and technology feel flagship-grade, and with a real-world range of around 500km, it eliminates the need for a second daily-use car. It feels more polished than the Atto 3 and on par with the EX30.

The real challenge for Kia India will be ensuring buyers see the EV3 for what it is: a premium midsize EV operating well above mass-market electric SUVs. If priced sensibly, the EV3 has the potential to become one of the most complete EVs under ₹40 lakh in India.
