October 2025 Car Sales Report: Festive Season & GST Cuts Fuel Strong Growth Across the Indian Market

India’s passenger vehicle market experienced a robust surge in October 2025, driven by festive-season demand and the positive impact of GST 2.0 price reductions implemented in September. Most automakers recorded strong month-on-month growth, with several marking a year-on-year sales rise as well.

However, the gains were uneven—while brands like Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Toyota, and Skoda Volkswagen saw impressive jumps, others such as Hyundai, Honda, JSW MG Motor, and Nissan posted declines in YoY performance.

Maruti Suzuki remained firmly on top, while Tata Motors reclaimed the No. 2 position, and Mahindra and Hyundai followed close behind, intensifying the battle for the second spot in India’s competitive market.

  • Strength in SUVs continues to dominate sales mix
  • Maruti achieves highest-ever monthly sales
  • Tata climbs to second place
  • Hyundai records YoY decline despite MoM jump
  • Skoda-Volkswagen group posts fastest YoY growth

  • YoY Growth: +17.4%

Maruti Suzuki delivered an all-time high monthly sales figure, fueled by festive deliveries, strong booking momentum, and price corrections post-GST 2.0. Compact SUVs and premium Nexa models contributed significantly, while entry-level hatchbacks continued benefiting from renewed budget-car interest.

Tata Motors — Back at No. 2

  • Sales: 73,879
  • YoY Growth: +12.7%

  • Sales: 67,442
  • YoY Growth: +9.58%

Mahindra continues to ride on the success of its robust SUV lineup including Scorpio-N, XUV700, XUV 3XO, and Thar. The launch of the updated Thar boosted volumes further.

Hyundai — MoM Up, YoY Down

  • Sales: 65,048

Toyota — Consistent Growth

  • Sales: 34,548
  • YoY Growth: +14.2%

Toyota continues to gain traction with the Innova Hycross and Urban Cruiser Hyryder, alongside steady sales from Glanza and Rumion. Strong hybrid demand and production ramp-up helped Toyota improve MoM and YoY figures.

Renault continues focusing on budget-friendly models like Kwid and Triber, showing encouraging YoY improvement even with limited portfolio options.
