Kia Carens Clavis EV Real-World Range Tested: How Far Does It Actually Go?

December 1, 2025

Kia entered the family-EV space in India earlier this year with the launch of the Carens Clavis EV, priced from ₹17.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as an electric alternative to the standard Carens, this three-row MPV aims to offer long-distance practicality, flexible seating and a feature-rich cabin—all while running purely on electric power. Buyers have six variants and six body colours to choose from, making it one of the more versatile EV line-ups in its price bracket.

The electric Carens is offered with two battery pack options: a 42kWh Standard Range setup and a 51.4kWh Extended Range pack. The model tested here is the more powerful and longer-range 51.4kWh version, which produces 169bhp and 255Nm of torque, sending power exclusively to the front wheels. On paper, Kia claims an impressive driving range of 490km on a single charge, a figure that positions the Clavis EV strongly against rivals in the growing three-row EV segment.

To understand how much of this claim holds up in everyday use, we tested the top-spec HTX+ ER variant under CarWale’s real-world range protocol. The test conditions remained consistent throughout the drive: the cabin temperature was fixed at 24°C with the blower set to speed 1, the vehicle remained in Normal drive mode, and the regenerative braking was kept at Level 1 to recreate a realistic usage pattern that mirrors what most urban and highway drivers would adopt.

Under these controlled but everyday-accurate conditions, the Carens Clavis EV delivered a real-world driving range of 372km on a full charge. This means the EV achieved 75.9% accuracy against Kia’s official claim—a number that is in line with what we generally observe from modern EVs under mixed driving environments.

While the real-world figure falls short of the advertised number, it still represents a substantial usable range for a three-row electric MPV. For families, fleet users or long-distance commuters, this gives the Clavis EV enough flexibility for daily runs and moderate weekend travel with minimal charging interruptions. The model also maintains its practicality, spaciousness and comfort levels, much like the standard Carens, making it one of the more compelling family-oriented EVs in its segment.

Our complete road test and in-depth review of the Kia Carens Clavis EV—including charging performance, ride quality, cabin experience and value-for-money assessment—is available on the website for readers who want a deeper look at the MPV’s real-world behaviour.
