Mahindra EV Production To Double By March 2026

November 29, 2025

Mahindra is gearing up for a major ramp-up in its electric vehicle output. With the launch of the new XEV 9S, the company now has four EVs on sale — the XEV 9S, XEV 9e, BE 6 and XUV400 — and plans to significantly boost production to keep pace with rising demand.

Production To Increase From 4,000–5,000 To 8,000 Units/Month

Speaking at the XEV 9S launch, Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director at Mahindra, confirmed that monthly EV production will rise from the current 4,000–5,000 units to 8,000 units per month by March 2026.

Mahindra’s dedicated EV manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune, currently handles production for the BE 6, XEV 9e, and XEV 9S. The plant has a peak monthly capacity of 10,000 units, but Mahindra plans to stabilise output at around 8,000 units to ensure the supply chain, vendors and workforce can operate reliably at scale.

EV Share In Sales Expected To Triple By 2028

Mahindra’s electric SUVs currently make up around 7.5% of the brand’s monthly sales. The BE 6 and XEV 9e alone contribute around 7% to overall volumes.

With the arrival of the XEV 9S, Mahindra expects EV adoption to rise sharply. The company projects that 20–25% of its total sales will come from EVs by 2028.

How the increased production capacity will be allocated across models is still under evaluation and will depend on real-world demand. Mahindra will share model-wise production splits closer to rollout.
